Our Method
The ultimate goal of foster care is to temporarily care for a child until they can return to their birth parents safely (if feasible). The very best thing about fostering children is the incredible impact it can have on the trajectory of the life of a child that has been dealt an unfair hand in life.
Foster parents are able to provide so much more than just stability and a good support system. Foster parents can be the figure of change that can take a life filled with hurt and tears and turn it to hope and love.
Being displaced from your home and taken into care can be very traumatizing for any child or youth. The contribution of a loving family is key to changing the life of a child, and the love and support provided by an understanding and reliable, trustworthy adult, coupled with an all-inclusive neighborhood environment, are invaluable assets to the well-being of the child.
Environments matter and with the right environment children can settle, find peace, and eventually grow in their hope for a better tomorrow. We take our role of creating the right environment for children very seriously at Peppers Ranch. Keeping with our commitment to excellence, we have an extensive vetting process to become foster parent residents at Peppers Ranch. We strive to increase family satisfaction and regularly engage with our parent council to receive feedback early and often on matters of importance.
Our Model
Every community has its own specific, beautiful, and valuable forms of capital. Here at Peppers Ranch, we work to create the concept of the all-inclusive neighborhood that transforms the socio-economic capital of the trust, safety, meaning, hope, and service into active supports for children and youth who, by no fault of their own, find themselves in need of care. Seeing a neighborhood as a whole, as a body or one household (instead of a number of separated, family-based households), is an integral part of the Peppers Ranch community.
Our entire community operates with the mission of breaking the cycle of child abuse and each family living on the ranch, lives with the same mission. The neighborhood has been built to serve the needs of children that include on-sight activities, mental health supports, family-family peer connections, and educational attainment opportunities.
The infrastructure, core values, program design and partner supporters of Peppers Ranch make it possible for a sustainable, and inclusive neighborhood. We desire to prove that creating this more inclusive environment is attainable and that these types of harbors of safety can exist with intention. The Peppers Ranch community desires to create and maintain healthy communities that foster well-being and human potential, safety, justice, and a fair chance to every youth.
